Runway and Anthropic Link Claude Motion to Video
Anthropic launched Claude Motion in beta, partnering with Runway to turn deterministic charts and data into animated video for enterprise teams.
New enterprise tool runs deterministic code to animate charts without data distortion, feeding directly into Runway’s video suite.
Anthropic rolled out a beta release of Claude Motion on October 8, 2026, aimed at enterprise customers who need to convert structured tables, reports, and spreadsheets into animated video explainers. Alongside the release, Anthropic announced an official launch partnership with Runway. The integration lets teams send animated graphics directly to Runway’s video editor, where creators can generate dynamic backgrounds, add voiceovers, and refine footage with agent-assisted tools.
How Claude Motion animates data with code
Standard video diffusion models frequently stumble when handling crisp text and precise figures. When generating charts pixel by pixel, diffusion networks often blur axes, distort numbers, or hallucinate different digits from one frame to the next.
Claude Motion avoids this problem by skipping synthetic pixel diffusion altogether. Instead, the system writes and executes deterministic code to animate shapes, text labels, and chart bars according to user data. This approach keeps percentages, metrics, and labels accurate to the source document. Before downloading the resulting MP4 video file, users can edit figures, change text lines, and adjust transition pacing directly on the interface.
Direct connection to Runway and video suites
The partnership with Runway bridges the gap between numerical rigor and cinematic video finishing. Once a team formats a data animation in Claude Motion, one click transfers the project over to Runway. There, the Runway Agent helps assemble generative video backdrops, build contextual visuals, and sequence cuts without altering the underlying data animation.
Anthropic also enabled export routes for a broader creative software ecosystem. The initial rollout includes connections to Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, and Luma AI. The company confirmed that support for Canva and Captions will follow in subsequent updates.
Tier availability and graduated tools
During this early beta phase, Claude Motion is not accessible to individual Free or Pro subscribers. Access remains restricted to corporate accounts: the feature is active by default for Team plans and requires administrator activation on Enterprise plans.
Alongside the joint release of Motion and Claude Dashboards, Anthropic graduated earlier workspace tools out of beta. Claude Docs, Slides, and Design are now generally available across all tiers, including free accounts. Neither Anthropic nor Runway added integration surcharges; exports operate within the existing subscription allowances on each platform.
Why splitting code from video solves a key bottleneck
Executive presentations and earnings summaries demand exact metrics. A single warped digit or hallucinated data point ruins credibility, which has kept pure AI video generators out of corporate reporting workflows.
Anthropic and Runway address this reality with a practical division of labor: deterministic code handles the mathematical accuracy of charts, while generative models take care of visual polish and motion design. That split delivers fast turnaround without compromising factual reliability.
